Dropcents affiliate Janel Abad recently had the opportunity to get an interview with URBANITE

How did you come up with the name “URBANITE”?

A. The name really hit me while brainstorming about two and a half years ago while I was a junior
in High school. I remember hitting up my cousins Tina,Enock and Bobby to help me
out and then we started to lay down some ideas that sounded good to us.Then one day I started thinking
what influenced most of my designs and find out it was the urban life. After countless hours of researching i found out
the british term URBANITE which mean city dweller.

What inspired you to get into the clothing business?

A. I’ve always wanted to do something creative, As a kid I’ve always hated the ideas of working in an office with
three piece suit on, I’ve always picture me as somebody that travel from place to place as part of my job or play a sport.
My family also influence me, I can honestly say 3/4 of my cousins are obsessed with some kind of clothing and its from
both side of the family too,
kinda scary right?

As you were growing up, did you think that you were going to be in this business?

A. No But like I mention earlier I always knew it was going to be something that would involve not working in one place,like
freelance photography for example.

What makes “URBANITE” stand out from all the other companies?

A. I would say what we stands for is different. We dont try to change the world in a tshirt but we do try to make a statement. Here its family way before business we laugh we play lots of video games and wedesign, The only rule in the URBANITE office (which doesnt exist yet) is to laugh at least eighty percent of the time and make the best out ofevery possible moment in life.

Is there something you want everyone out there to know about the company?

A. I would like to say that URBANITE is a fairly new company and we are still in the process of learning.Look out for next season.

What do you see for the future of “URBANITE” & is there anything we should be looking out for?
A.
I can’t get in too much details but I would say wider range of products, also a thing or two for the ladies will be added each season due to demand and my good friend Grace who never stop asking for her Urbanite shirt LOL.
